The Island Getaway Canasta league was created for people who enjoy getting together with friends while competing in the great game of canasta.

|| ~: BASIC ISLAND GETAWAY TOURNAMENT RULES :~ ||

You may only have 1 account in Island Getaway canasta league. Your league name MUST be your EXACT Pogo name. Duplicate accounts (2 or more accounts held by the same person) will result in removal of BOTH/ALL accounts.

|| ~: REGISTERING FOR A TOURNAMENT :~ ||

Any player may join in a tournament/tourney (with the exception of the TOC which is invitational) who wishes to do so. UNLESS... YOU ARE PLAYING IN A TOURNEY THAT IS STILL ACTIVE ie... if you are playing in the 7 and you want to play in the 9, but the 7 is still in finals... you may NOT register until YOU ARE NO LONGER IN THE 7.
ANY PLAYER WHO JOINS A TOURNEY WHILE STILL COMPETING IN A TOURNEY WILL BE DQ'D FROM BOTH TOURNEYS

The 1st thing to do is check the tournament calendar. Once you have clicked the tourney you wish to take part in, you should read the "Rules" page first. We play many different variations and it is your responsibility to read the rules before joining. A host should run rules in the lobby, but this is a courtesy.

After you have read the "Rules" page, you would then click the "Register" page. Enter your user name, and password. If you have read and understand the rules, then please check the box, and click register.

We ask that you enter the Blue Diamond lobby at least 5 minutes before the tourney is set to begin. Keep the tourney page up so you can follow standings.

When the TD starts the tourney you will be paired with a random partner. Check the TEAMS page to see who your partner is, and who is first on your team.

|| ~: WHAT TO DO DURING A TOURNEY :~ ||

In the lobby, the host will announce pairings for the match/round (example: Team1 /// Team2). The 1st player of the team announced 1st would then set any table of choice as long as it was not used already for the same tourney.

While at the table, please be sure to use friendly chat like: hello, good hand, nice draw, thank you, nice pick up… etc... When the game is over it is always nice to say good game, good luck in rest, or good luck later.

When a match is finished all players are to report win/loss in the lobby (example: FredWilma///BarneyBetty). If not all players report and someone were to make a mistake the host has no way of knowing and the match could incorrectly be reported.

Please always conduct yourself in a respectable manner during tournaments and refrain from using vulgar or explicit language or outright disputes in open chat. If a player is disrupting a tourney, or if there is a dispute regarding scores, etc, the TD will take the person(s) in private to resolve the matter.

Please respect all players and do not announce a player has DQ’d unless it is you. It is rude and up to the party who DQ’d to make that announcement in the lobby if they choose to do so… not you.

Before leaving the lobby remember to thank your partner for playing with you and please be sure to thank your TD for hosting. Keep in mind that your TDs are here working for you as volunteers. It is due to their hard work and dedication that we are able to run tourneys.

Please do not get impatient, demanding or rude. They are doing the best they can. Mistreating a TD is grounds for removal from the league.

|| ~: BRB’s & TIMERS :~ ||

At any time, a player may take a BRB (be right back). If you should take a BRB, please announce it both at the table, then in the lobby. BRB's should last no longer then 3 minutes. If after the 3 minute BRB has expired, and the player is not back, the other team should call a timer.

Timers... first and foremost are NOT punishment. They are necessary to keep the tourneys running smoothly and on time. When a timer is called, the host will activate a 10 minute timer. The player who has the timer called on them has 10 minutes to return. If they do not return in 2 minutes, the HOST will assign a sub. Subs are assigned in the following order: In the lobby
1. Admin
2. HTD
3. TD
4. Player already eliminated from tourney
5. Player.
If they are unable to find a sub in the lobby they will look for one in IM's in the same order. The TIMER will continue to count down until the 10 minutes are up. If the player requiring the sub returns anytime during that 10 minutes they may resume play and continue the tourney. If the timer runs out, they are DQ'd and the sub will continue on playing to assist the P of the DQ'd party
A player is allowed to have a timer called 2x, but... if the timer is called the 3rd time, the player having the timers called will be DQ'd and their p will be assigned a sub to help them finish the tourney.

Another reason that a timer would be called is a player is not in the lobby at the time that player is due to begin their round, the player was called 3 times by the host and is non responsive, or is at the table and is non responsive after 1 full minute.

When calling a timer do so in CAPS… like this “TIMER ON “PLAYERS NAME” PLEASE NOT AT TABLE” This is one of the few times a player may cap up in the lobby.

When the player comes back to the table and is able to type and play the timer must be called off. The person, whom the timer is on, may not call it off. Another player at the table must call it off. A timer must be called off in CAPS. Like this, “TIMER OFF “PLAYERS NAME” PLEASE.”

|| ~: MESSENGERS AND TABLE TALK :~ ||

You may not discuss any part of the tourney in a messenger with your partner while at a table.

Please DO NOT ask a question pertaining to the tourney at the table, others may take this as "table talk”, it is not allowed, and is considered cheating, unless that tourneys rules states table talk is allowed. If a person is caught cheating in any way, that person will be immediately disqualified from the tournament. If the offenses are repeated, the player(s) will be banned from the league.

|| ~: DISPUTE AND RESOLUTION :~ ||

If you have a question, please ask it in the lobby. If you have an issue that you feel needs to be resolved during a game and the 4 of you at the table cannot come to an agreement, go to the lobby and ask the host to join you at a table.

Do not discuss it in the lobby. The host will do their best to rule fairly. If you feel the TD has ruled unfairly, you may ask the TD to bring in an HTD or Admin.

|| ~: MOST IMPORTANTLY :~ ||

Have fun and allow others to do the same.

Leave the drama in the theater and on the T.V. in the soap operas. If you feel the need to be dramatic, join the actor’s guild. Do not bring it in the lobby.

Those who disrespect fellow Islanders, could face possible suspension in the penalty box, or removal from the league.
